Just got the phone. So far, all positive things. You can make your own ringtones, haven't seen any lag in menu changes, everything is real responsive. Just got to wait a little bit for the email program to be available for download and I think I'll be good to go. Definitely a upgrade to the r410. MAJOR UPGRADE.

I'm considering to replace my U520 with this, is it worth it? How is the battery life and call quality (that's most important to me)

I would be making a bias opinion. I've never used or tested the U520 personally. My friend had it and he didn't like it at all and wished he never got it. I believe it is worth it. Especially if you're a big text-er. You seem to be more about call quality and basic functionality. I honestly believe it is a upgrade from U520. I have not had a problem with calls that are made or received. My girlfriend, family and friends have not had any problems hearing me either. That's with and without bluetooth. The battery life is good, but not absolutely great. I will be getting an extended life battery once available. It'll suffice for now.

I have the U520 and I guess I was fortunate that my phone functions well, although I'm simply bored with it and I just wanted to know if the messenger was good. Im considering upgrading to the messenger although it bothers me that it doesn't have EVDO. I heard Nokia are comming out with new models for mPCS that may have EVDO(high speed internet). Although the messenger seems appealing b/c it has a qwerty keyboard and other cool features. Perhaps it is the network or network conditions itself but sometimes voice quality is simply horrible at times, I like megapixel cams, mp3 funtionability and bluetooth, voice quality is very important. I wonder if it is a samsung problem or just the network is bad at certain times.

Tolerating it but not impressed with it. I'm just gonna list some items of concern for me. I'll be updating this list as I find more faults with it.

It might be a good phone for teenagers that don't require some calendar, memo, voice recorder and video capture functions. At times I find it's a waste of my time.

PROS:

-slide out QWERTY keyboard.
-Excellent camera lots of features.
-mSD Card (I use 1GB)
-3 Alarms
-Contacts can be placed in a "Group" for group broadcasts of txt.

CONS:

-No Memo Recorder

-No Video Capture

-No Voice Dialing.
(if there is I can't find it)

-Calendar
Can't set alarm or repeat your appointments. You have to plug in every apt. for every separate day.

-Memo
Does not have reminder...

it does have voice memo its under sounds. it does have a reminder alarm. and u can change the clock if u didnt know thaat already. u also have to keep in mind this a samsung smart fone for metro and its going to be kinda hard to use and i own this fone and i love it. i just dont know how to download music to the mp3 player for it. rather than that. its awsome 🙂

i disagree i dont think its a smart phone 😳

if you flash a phone to metroPCS it is certain the MMS and internet will not work, also its been reported that some phones lose their mp3 app
