New National Coverage for MetroPCS
Who's network does MetroPCS piggy-back on? The map of "MetroPCS Extended Home Area" looks more similar to Sprints.

According to tmobi22, Sprint's it is. Besides, Metro can't roam with T-Mobile, their networks are not compatible.

I notice the East of Long Island by the Hamptons and Montauk still showing future coverage. Sprint has some coverage there already I believe from their maps on Boost CDMA and Nextel.

AT&T and Verizon were the 1st two to get their service into many areas so their was not much of a choice.
Now that Sprint, T-Mobile, MetroPCS and some others came out, the carriers are stuck to major metro areas and highways.

That's entirely untrue. Do you really think they go in and build new towers? NO! They piggyback on existing ones.
It's much more cost effective for Sprint, T-Mobile, Metro and the like to use roaming agreements as opposed to building their own native networks outside of major metropolitan areas.
One thing is certain, if you're not going to travel outside of most reasonable sized cities (note I didn't say major) often, Metro's new coverage map is impressive. If you need to roam on occasion, you do have the option.
