what does the phone do when ur outside the calling area. b/c i have an old nokia 3570 and when i am outside the calling area, i have no bars. please respond

It should either have no signal or "search" and go into "powersave" mode if the phone has that.

If you want your phone to work outside of your service area you need to subscribe to travel time. They charge you $5 a month and put the money into your flex bucket. Once you have activated travel time you need to do a PRL update on your phone by dialing *228 . Once you have the new PRL you should be able to roam.

Unfortunately, you can not use travel time with any of the nokia's, and i think the kyrocera rave is also no able to roam.

So go buy a dorado or a moto its cheaper than having a set amount of minutes with another carrier.Or you can get a phone off of ebay.
