Helio going under?
DP556Sep 2, 2007, 10:30 AM
Is Helio still going strong? Or are they going to go the way of Amp'd? Last I heard the initial $1/2 billion investment will be used up at the end of the year, earthlink pledged another $100 million but only gave something like $30 million, and they laid off 80% of their sales force...I dont know but it doesn't look good...anyone have any information?

their main backing company SDK will probably not give up so soon. Unless they are truly serious about buying sprint then maybe they will cut loose of helio so they can put all the money to sprint!
...
hmm well Helio is leasing Sprints network so I dunno how that will fair for the company...

Really? They have 5 coporate stores and already having problems? I thought Helio was doing pretty good. I think part of the reason Ampd went under because their devices were crap. They didn't offer anything that was original. Their selling point was mobile tv and unlimited text messaging with certain plans...Booo! 🤨

Oops! Typo...I mean corporate ðŸ¤

Amped went under for two reason and they rool into one. Money and time. They did not make enough money in the time they had before they ran out. Their investors did not want to loose that much before they said there done.
helio has some deep pockets and their backers are patient. However if they don't start posting a profit then they will to pull the plug. Or as I said if they think they can get the money to buy sprint they may pull the plug also as it would be no reason for them to back helio at that point!

Oh I c. Well I was going to switch to Helio because I love the Ocean but I dunno...a little scared now. I will probably just go back to TMo when they release all of their new phones.

the lay off was only 15% and it had a lot to do with repetitive and redundant jobs, so there was really no need for them in the first place
