Assurion ins question
I just spoke with customer service to inquire into the new share everything plan. While I was speaking with them I wanted to cofirm my insurance on my two iphones. Customer service told me that my inurance dropped off 6 months ago, reason because I did an ESN swap, which I swapped to a Fascinate as wanted to see something, was told that ESN swap auomatically drops insurance. Does that sound correct? So if I had to file a claim it would not be covered. Sounds dishonest to me.

they don't cover used phones.......what's dishonest about it?

Strictly speaking and ESN swap doesn't automatically drop your phone insurance, it's the reason for the swap. If either Verizon or Asurion replaces the phone with a same or comparable model then you keep your coverage. If you replace it on your own, even if its the same model, you lose coverage. In any case when your bill arrived six months ago and was a few bucks lower you should've checked it and asked Customer Service about it if you didn't know.

Grinder yeah I agree I should have checked my bill, the issue is I have been a customer since 1997 when they were Bell Atlantic Mobile, I can't remember the last time I rec'd a paper bill as all online. I have a corporate discount and every month my bill is + or - $5-$7 or so without any overage fees, so by removing the monthly fee is not going to be a significant change for me to notice. Honestly I could care less if I lost my phone I would just got to closest Verizon store and purchase with cash, no big deal, just that I think if the ins is dropped I should have been contacted by Verizon to be notified. Also I purchased this phone from a friend, friend bought phone then 6 weeks later 4S was released, so in essence I did receive a new phone...

In the past the systems would prompt the user during an ESN change that if they continue insurance would drop. Not sure if it still does or not.
One major difference with an iPhone and any other device is the feature is actually different and costs more on the iPhone so that's another reason it drops and doesn't automatically apply a higher cost feature.
