I have an ATT phone so I ordered a SIM card only, entered all the info to port out of VZW.
SIM card isn't supposed to arrive for a couple days, but my current VZW phone quit working yesterday. 😕
As if someone completed the port out already. But usually you need to actually put the SIM card into the new phone before you loose service on your old phone.

Little miffed that I'm without service for a few days.

And to top it off ATT sent me the wrong size SIM. What's the point of giving them the IMEI if they aren't going to send the correct SIM? 😡 I needed a nano SIM for my Moto X. But I was able to trim the one that was sent to me down to size. And my phone is up and running now. 🙂
But I still may drop by a ATT store and get an actual NANO SIM.

All the timing is handled by business systems.

Initiating a port prior to the second phone being activated is expected to interrupt service in most cases.

Disclosure: I am an AT&T employee

I found my cellphone number when I was with Cingular and went to Verizon. Per ATT customer service they located my number in their Cingular system and the guy said that no one wo...
