Yeah I don't want to argue either and I understand what you are saying. And I am in no way trying to say HSPA+ is superior or the same as LTE/WIMAX. My point is simply that terms like 4G, 3G, etc are based on standards that are agreed to in the industry. And if those standards are changed or updated, then we should keep up with the changes.

For example, at one time LTE wasn't considered 4G (technically) until the speeds were to 100 Mbps. However, the industry has accepted current LTE speeds to be 4G. You will not rarely hear anyone say that Verizon's LTE isn't 4G (and compare that to current WIMAX, which is a lot slower, even at times slower than HSPA+ 42). So whether rightly or wrongly, it has been decided that HSPA+ can be called ...

Your right, I read up on it a bit more and the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) recognizes HSPA+ as 4G. T-mobile is not in my area so there is little to no information for me to locally compare stuff, only management at my current employer to tell me. Thanks for peaking my interest to learn more on my own bro. 🙂

I have one more ?? Will the phone i have ...mytouch 4g htc non slide keyboard work with the 1900 mhz 4g or will it need an OTA updatew or a new phone to get 4g speeds as i think but not sure right now 1900 is EDGE only

Sorry Edge only for TMO I love this phone and plan on keeping it for a while and hope it will not be banished to EDGE only once the network changes are made 4G is very fast in Fort Worth TX

THANK YOU! I would in no way say that it is superior to LTE, but as an AT&T rep, I am tired of arguing WITH OUR OWN CUSTOMERS that we do not have 4G!

Is it an original iphone?

If you're using an AT&T cell on the T-Mobile network, you won't get 3G/4G speeds no matter what, since the T-Mobile 3G/4G network is in 1700MHz and the AT&T cells don't support that frequency (on purpose). It should still work for picture messages, since you do have 2G EDGE. Make sure that your account is set up right for the data connection, and that data is enabled in your phone's settings.

technically at&t uses 1700 and tmo uses 1700 and 2100 but your phone has to be set up for both which at&ts aren't

I've found t-mobile 3g service, but then I live in a metro area, but the refarming they're doing may help with 3g at least
