TMO 1900MHz network modernization question

I was looking at the specs of my HTC One S and it doesn't have the WCDMA 1900.

So I'm wondering with TMO pushing to spread their 1900MHz coverage to work with older iPhones. Are they shutting down the 1700Mhz? Therefore limiting phones like the One S. Or will these phones that were specifically made for TMO before their modernization continue to work just fine?

maybe this might help:

"T-Mobile USA is in the process of implementing a network overhaul that will see it migrate HSPA-based services into its 1.9 GHz band that will then free up its 1.7/2.1 GHz spectrum for the rollout of LTE."

Not really. But this article I found does.

The iPhone 5 releasing on April 12th: Model A1428…what will work?

HSPA+ 42Mbps on the 1700 band
HSPA+ 21Mbps on the 1900 band — this is due to the T-Mobile’s 1900MHz not being DC-HSDPA capable.
LTE on the 1700MHz band
This is a true worldwide phone and will access everywhere T-Mobile has AWS 17

Both articles are stating the same thing.

1.7/2.1ghz for LTE/HSPA and 1.9ghz for HSPA.

I want to see if I understood you correctly. when you said T-Mobile will be --expanding-- does that mean new cell towers, new coverage in places a Tmo signal currently doesn't exist??? I want to emphasize I am inquiring about --expansion-- not network upgrades, I'm well aware off the 200m population covered with LTE by years end.

I have a lot of hesitation with T-Mobile, I've looked at coverage maps here in Connecticut, and it looks like There's a lot of light green areas, compared to New Britain, where I live being a well covered dark green area. My jobs sends me to a lot of different places, and I use my phone for GPS, so signal & coverage is important to me.

it means everything... Expanding means to
1. increase capacity
2. increase coverage
3. increase LTE.

they are doing all 3 things.

#2, I have a hard time believing.
Why in the year 2013 are they just now adding coverage?

Because they have the money now to do so. They have a vision in place. when you get more spectrum and funds you increase capacity. that's what happens. You are limited to the things that you have. they are not a Sprint, AT&T or Verizon Wireless. They have to pick their investments wisely.
