Some friends and I were thinking that this might be a cool idea to get. The only problem is that we don't really know just how reliable this service is.

Is this going to be as good as regular Nextel service, just prepaid? Or is it actually an inferior product?

I wanted to know before we really think about getting a few of these for us to have. All we want them for is the direct connect.

I'm a SprintPCS user and a NEXTEL user because of my career, But I personally think NEXTEL should get rid of MOTOROLLA, cause they have been making crappy phones, ever since they stopped making the STARTEC. Nextel needs other phone companies, to make phone for them like SANYO, SAMGSUNG, LG , NOKIA, SHARP etc.....
I have had a camara phone on my Sprintpcs since early 2001, yet NEXTEL has plans to come out with a camara phone sometime by the end of the year. By then SprintPCS will have teleportation, by the time NEXTEL reaches them up to par. lol, I will be able to send full lenght videos with my SPRINT phone. But I would love to see other phones offered by NEXTEL besides "MOTOROLLA: brands.

Boost has a new phone (i285) out. When if ever will this phone be released for nextel?

What charges would I get IF I use a nextel in mexico to call home? PTT wise & cellular? Because for 20.00 I was planning getting unlim PTT international since that would be the only person I would be contacting there and like wise for the other phone (buisness). whats so good about this whole push to talk/walkie talkie thing? Whats the difference with someone on a nextel phone with PTT and someone using a sprint or verizon or cingular line and talking on speaker phone? (Apart from those annoying beeps of course).

I just subscribed to the Premium Web service on my Nextel i830 because I want to be able to access my MSN Hotmail among other things.

So far, when I enter my ID and password, all I get is "we failed to log you into passport.net" blah ba blah ba blah.

I've called the customer support at least a half dozen times on this issue and I've gotten answers ranging from reset the phone browser to you must have a problem with your hotmail ID and finally one stupid girl actually said "the premium web is for accessing POP3 email and hotmail is not POP3 by default - it's an extra service you have to pay for on your hotmail account". NO BS, she actually said something to that effect and blew me off. I figured I would just keep calling until I got a...

I just had Nextmail added to my demo. Has anyone here had the chance to try this yet? Pretty cool stuff, the system assigns a radio number to any email address, you chirp and record a message and it gets delivered as an audio file with in an email.

Okay, I'm looking to switching carriers after my VZW contract ends this november. It's got to be pretty bad when I work for these people and want to change. Anyway, direct connect minutes, how do they apply? the plans show 250 Direct Connect minutes, does that mean every time key the mike to talk to another Nextel person, it rounds up to a full minute, even if you talk like 5 seconds?

The company I work for uses Nextel and they have numerous handhelds and one of those base unit models that looks kind of like a desk phone. I have no idea what model this base unit thing is but for some reason, I could not DC the base unit from my personal Nextel. Also, the base unit could not DC me. The strange thing is that I can DC the handhelds which are on the same DC prefix as the base unit. Nextel solved the problem by changing my DC number to one that is in the same prefix as our company phones so I can DC the base now. I just thought it was strange that this didn't work. I have never had a problem direct connecting to anyone ever before as long as you key in their full DC ID. Is this a limitation of the base unit hardware or ...
