Yet another merger question!!
Please excuse my naivity but I am on the consumer end and don't have the inside knowledge that most of you here do.
My question is...I just moved over to Verizon, does anyone know how long it will be before current Alltel customers are considered as part of the Verizon "in network" calling?

It will be sometime after the billing systems are merged and that's still to come.

I am on the Alltel side of things right now and am getting the feeling that the conversion into Verizon's billing system will be happening soon...(Month or two from now) Just my take on the whole thing. They start changing over our e-mail to Verizon within the next week or so...
Alltel and Verizon will continue to function as two separate wireless carriers until Verizon consolidates everything under the Verizon name and makes that announcement...

i have been told that the in network calling for actual verizon customers calling current alltel customers will begin this coming monday. I was also told that the in network calling for alltel customers calling verizon customers won't happen till probably 2nd quarter...

Actually, Verizon customers can call Alltel numbers right now and they are in calling. The tentative date for Alltel people to call Verizon customers is March 1. Here is the link to the site where you can check if an Alltel number is mobile to mobile with Verizon. But it's unfortunately one way right now until March.

Hey i have alltel and im not in the IN. Thats all im worried about my buddy only have verizon to verizon texting and dosent text me due to alltel so im just awaiting that.

Well hopefully they will be on schedule and in 6 weeks, your friend will be able to text and call you all he likes. So far they seem to be moving quickly so it looks promising.
