I have not only 1 but 2 of the I700plus phones, I love them! Now I am being FORCED to throw them out and update to a new phone. It hasnt been long ago I bought new batteries, quite a few new cases, even a brand new yellow housing!!! Absolutely NOTHING wrong with my phones!! EXCEPT thier new system! I have been told by more then 1 person from Southern Linc that when I bring my OLD phone in for a update it will MORE then likely BLOW it internally rendering it useless! IF by chance it does accept the update then more then likely it wont work on the new system because it is a old phone and it wont understand it! In other words.. Snowball chance in hell for me! They suggest update to a new phone. I asked them if they update it and it blows interna...

First Subject: Phones
I agree that the i700 phones are great units but I disagree on the fact that you feel that you are being forced to get rid of them. If there is NOTHING wrong with your phones then there should be no problem with the units accepting the upgrade. NO ONE will know how the rebanding will effect the phones until that time comes. Also I am not quite sure what you mean by "Blow it internallly". Software issues are usually something that can be repaired if something goes wrong, which is very unlikely. If there was NO CHANCE that the updates would work, I am sure that higher up people would not want to bring this upon themselves and go the extra mile to help you. They would just make you get a new phone. As for signing a...

Blow internally; meaning frying the inside of the phone rendering it completely useless. These phone are not even GPS capable. (discontinued 4 yrs ago) Repaired yes... aprox 125.00 per phone if this needs to happen, but if it blows the phone there is no use in having it repaired only for it to happen again. They are forcing me to get new phones by the fact that if something does happen to my phone even if I have a dozen just like these they will not turn another I700 on. Hypothetically speaking, I have to send my phone out for repairs, and say it takes aprox 2 weeks. For those 2 weeks I need my service, so I have it put on another phone while waiting for my repairs. They will not turn my phone back on when I get it back. I700 are a thing of ...

Well considering that now days with any carrier to get discounted equipment or rate plans with promotions you need a contract. most carriers are upgrading their networks so eventually you do need an equipment upgrade, Also phones are actually not meant to last forever 4 years is really old for a wireless phone nowdays, If you are advised that you should upgrade and a software upgrade may not work and may cause damage, well you are warned, they are not responsible for any damages then. Some people buy 100 dollar phones every 1-2 years, you had these for 4 years, I have to say not only did you get your money's worth but your wireless provider was great to do software upgrades for it so it can continue to work correctly. Many if not most other ...

I guess as a stay at home mom that never hardly leaves home 4 yrs is good for a I700. Although I have bought only 1 new battery, I guess that also is excellent 😛 and it wasnt because it was neccessary it was because the old battery was 2 yr old. My hubby on the other hand has had sveveral different types of cell phones and we have spent numerous $$$ on replacement parts as well as phones. He is very rough on them. The original I700 he had lasted him about 3 yr but it just didnt hold up to 8 inches of water and being run over with a water truck and wasnt missed till about 2 hours later. He did find it and it was still lite and on, I say if he would of took the battery out and let it dry it may of still worked. BUT... he left it on and well....

The only thing I have to say about this is I'm a SouthernLINC Wireless dealer and I've upgraded plenty of phones. Not one single phone I've upgraded so far has had a problem. Looks like you might want to try going to a dealer that knows what they're doing. Sorry if you've had bad experiences, but individual experience depends on the quality of the business you're working with.

Plus - SouthernLINC Wireless DID NOT choose to do this upgrade system. The situation is this: The FCC has discovered that SouthernLINC Wireless, Nextel, and the local emergency systems are all using an 800 mHz frequency band. With this many people on one frequency range, service quality is becoming poor. That and if there were ever a real emergency, the possib...
