Neither country would crumble without the other. And there are advantages and disadvantages for both parties involved with free trade. Canada has more natural resources (raw materials) and less people who actually need them. However our manufacturing sector is weak compared to the USA, which happens to be a little light in the Natural resources department and heavy on the population in comparison and need for these raw materials. That is far to simplified and only scratches the surface but in a sense what it boils down to is a symbiotic relationship between the two countries. Which has been developing over centuries but has really picked up and solidified since NAFTA was initiated in... '94 (?? I think)

Just to let you, not all americans are as empiralistic and filled with ignorant greed as the previous poster. I find it sad that my fellow americans have this we are better than every other country attitude. In fact if it wasn't so damn cold in canada, I'd much rather live there. I mean at least you have universal healthcare. Our greedy capitilistic country doesn't provide that.
