So, a friend of mine who just moved to Canada said one of the reps in a Telus store told him that all handsets in Canada have to be available unlocked...

My associate is not very tech savvy, so I think he may have mis-interpreted whatever the agent was trying to tell him, but it does make me curious about how things are done up yonder North. How do handset exclusivity and contract terms play out up there?

We screwed it up. AT&T is going to take money from all the poor little kids in America and ruin a good thing with T-Mobile.

So, is there a carrier that is as nice as T-mobile that I can use in America? You know, like does Rogers act all nice to people and say, "hey we offer love to the states, just sign up and we'll take care of you drunk. It will be ok?" or do I have to move to Canada?

With the US $ and Canadian $ almost equal in value (US $ is 1.00000 and the the Canadian one is $1.00037 as of 9:10 pm EST), I wonder if Canadians are starting to jump to The States to purchase wireless devices which may be unlocked to be used with their wireless carrier back home seeing how the full price on the majority of wireless devices here in The States seem to be quite a bit less expensive. I still ponder why the US wireless carriers don't have 3 year contracts like the Canadians ones do.

As some of you can read, I've posted about getting prepaid in Canada. While looking I've found pretty much every site that offers service in Canada. What's really cool is alot of the phone will also work in the US as well so it's a pretty sound investment since you can use it as an emergency phone in the states. (To my knowledge this is accurate). Not all of the phones will work but the site are really easy to navigate and find what you want. Here's my list, add more if you know of any!
