Diversity

A "smart antenna" technology that uses multiple antennas (usually two) with special processing technology to improve signal reception ability with multiple benefits.

The most common type is mobile receive diversity, where a mobile device uses two physically separate antennas. This improves network capacity and data rates - sometimes dramatically.

Diversity technology can also be applied to transmission, where it can also boost battery life, and to base stations (towers), where it can further improve network capacity and data rates.
