Help my find a Smartphone - PLEASE
wsandDec 18, 2007, 2:09 PM
I'm looking for a PDA phone to do some very basic functions that require Windows Office - calender to print at end of month, excel spread sheet to post expenses (and print at EOM). Don't really need internet/email yet, but will need in the coming year. Most important - I need to SEE THE SCREEN! Really like the Blackberry screens but the AT&T reps tell me no Windows Office on Blackberrys - this just doesn't make sense to me - are they correct?!?!?
Anyway, based on screen display alone my first choice would be a Blackberry (if someone can prove my AT&T reps wrong), 2nd is the Moto Q. But I am wide open to the thoughts of all you who I'm sure are much smarter than me on this!

IMHO, you're better off with a Pocket PC that has full Word, Excel and Power Point capability like the 8525, Tilt or Treo 750.

I agree. He is correct about the blackberry as well. It has its own os that it runs on. You shuold look into an HTC device or Palm with windows mobile. Maybe the Q, but that is last resort.

I will agree with the above posts that, currently, there is no support for Microsoft formats on the Blackberry OS. There is future planned support via Documents To Go, but this has yet to be released.
However, Documents To Go does have versions for Windows Mobile Standard (Moto Q), Symbian UIQ and Symbian Series 80. This software will have the same effect as having a Windows Mobile Professional (HTC Tilt, Palm Treo 700), but is third party software, and not embedded on the device. I use it with the Moto Q and it works well.
I hope this information was helpful.
