AIM sound in Windows Mobile on T-mobile Dash - CAN'T CHANGE!!

Ok so we got the T-mobile dash yesterday, and it comes with AOL IM on it. It works great as far as "chatting", but one thing that is crazy is we cannot figure out how to change the message sound. It is EXTREMELY LOUD and is that standard AOL "brrrring" message sound. No matter if we put the phone on silent, vibrate, normal, ANYTHING, anytime a message comes in over AIM it is loud enough to make 10 people in a store turn and look at the phone thats in a case on my belt.

Does anyone have any ideas? I just finished talking to T-mobile smartphone support and we tried everything without success. It just seems insane that you can change every single sound on this phone except for the AIM message sound.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated. 😁

I have the Dash, the only way I found to disable that sound cause it does the same for the Yahoo IM. Just go to Volume strip settings, enable it and set it to system and in call, Set all the other settings to Very Fast. THis has no real significance but it allows the process to go faster. Once you enable all that, tune that volume all the way down using the strip. Then go back to settings/ volume strip settings and disable it. No more loud annoying IM alerts. None of those other fixes you tried worked for me either. Good Luck

Go to "settings", then "sounds". Scroll down to "New Text Message" and/or "New Instant Message" and you can scroll through the different ringtones and apply one that's just maybe like a "ding" or "none". Hope that helps! 😁
