Verizon or Sprint

My current contract with Verizon is about to expire and before renewing it, I'd like to get some advice. I am looking at getting the PPC-6700 and am interested in a comparison regarding features that are/are not available by carrier. I have read the reviews on the unit, and the blogs about the carriers themselves. What I need is an honest assessment on what the same unit will do on one network vs the other.

I love the Verizpn version, but I'd rather have the Sprint Version of the 6700 because it has Sprint TV.

Yea..for watching TV, Sprint's Live TV option does outweigh VZW's video clips.

Sprint will also be offering the faster EVDO Rev. A on their apparently massave network..lol..

MobiTV is also a good option on Cingular..(Compatible on EDGE and HSDPA)

Now for data Coverage:
Sprint: reaches 158 Million People
VZW: reaches 150 million
Cingular: EDGE Reaches 250 Million, HSDPA Reaches 70 Million (they claim to be expanding that, since it is newly released)

Customer Base:
Cingular: 58 Million
Sprint: (hrm..they dont seem to list that on their site)
Verizon Wireless: 56 Million

If Sprint doesn't put that on their site, then that raises a concern. Cingular: had them twice, but not 3 times a fool. I'd probably suffer w/ T-mobile for the sake of having an MDA, but to each his own. Supposedly Mobi Tv will ve w/ Verizon in early 07. That might make me stay with them if they do. If not, then Sprint may be the only other option for me.

You can't do Sprint TV on the 6700. However, all Windows Mobile 5.0 phones can use Orb or Slingbox software to stream from your cable TV box to your phone.

Also, Sprint has the cheapest data plans. On the 6700 you only need the $15 one since you can't do Sprint TV. You can do Picture Mail/Video, but you need 3rd party apps... easy to find (ppcgeeks.com)

You can even do Phone-as-modem with the Sprint one with just the $15 Vision Package.

Sadly, if you have Verizon (like me) and want to use Slingbox, you can kiss your Verizon contract goodbye!

I noticed that VZW locks features out. The offers VZW has is also offered by everyone else now.

I'd say Sprint does have more to offer with 7PM-7AM nights and Fair and Flexable plans.

That and Yahoo! Tech says Sprint has the largest network, covering more than 295 Million people nationwide.

My thought: Find a service that covers you best..with a plan that supports you best...then make your decision.

The only reason I like Verizon is because I can do MMS on PDA phones, which is much harder on Sprint phones; but do what fits you best.

That's voice coverage only. Sprint PCS covers 250 million people on their own network, and powervision coverage is even less. To me though, I'd rather have Sprint's level of voice coverage and do without the extras while roaming rather than be on Cingular and have NO COVERAGE in a whole bunch of places.

I have Nextel, so I know what I'm talking about when I say, NO COVERAGE. Analog roaming to me should be available for all wireless customers who want it. Unfortunately, the trend now is away from it, and until the level of coverage nationwide through digital only means is there, I say let's keep it around a little while longer.

You can even do Phone-as-modem with the Sprint one with just the $15 Vision Package.
---------------------------------------------

im so sorry that its a mistake that a LOT of people makes... with sprint vision pack you have unlimited access to internet with YOUR CELL PHONE but when you connect your phone like modem you are lost... the charges comes more than 200dlls coz its not included the modem option with this pack, you need a special plan (like wireless cards plans) because the sys checks if you are connecting from a computer and nor for your cell phone so you will have charges for internet access... and then you will call to customer service angry to hear "sorry sr the sprint vision pack doesnt include the phone-as-modem system... ...

I won't let you anyway. And you can connect older non EVDO phones without the plan. The system does not no the difference. Of course if you use a heck of allot of data they may question it!

Sprint is better for their TV and data packages. Verizon has great coverage over the US but I've never had problems with Sprint either. I think it all comes down to the cost of data (text messages, Internet, etc.). With my Slingbox running I'd rather have Sprint.
