The reception is very good on voice calls. Data transmission is excellent as well but is only EDGE speeds on AT&T. Speeds are good enough for browsing and most data needs however you will want to use wifi to download podcast and such.
I like the OS however coming from S60 (Nokia N95) Android seems less mature. Android has less apps built into the OS but I am discovering you can add many of the missing features through the Marketplace store most these apps are free. Overall the OS is very good and updates have and will come frequently.
The favorite things for me about the Nexus One is the high res AMOLED display and the Snapdragon processor which makes this phone fly. I like the customization of the 5 homescreens and the Voice to Text feat...

Not a big need for typing, you just touch the microphone icon and speak what you want the text to write. It is amazingly accurate.
Google is also working on a foreign language voice translation. You could have a phone conversation with someone speaking a different language and it will translate both parties speech on the fly. They say this about two to three years away from implementation.
Cool stuff!

Not just cool stuff!!! Way, way, way cool stuff! . . .so are you saying that you never actually type anytning? You just "talk" to your phone and it does the rest? Screw keyboards appearently, huh?

Hmm, maybe I will be ok getting an all touch phone after all.

Pretty much just click on the microphone icon and speak what you want the text to read.
The window will then say "working" which means it is sending the speech to Google's servers for translation and then it resends it back to the phone in a text form. It has to have a data connection to work either cellular or wifi.
Check out the Google phone site opening page, click on the microphone inside the Google search bar at the top of the phone. You will see it work.
Works the same way on the real phone for almost any type of text entry.

Yeah, me too! I'm going from S60 to Android also when ATT starts launching Android phones beyond the dorky acc Backflip. The Google Sky is very, very cool!!!!

Hmm, speaking of coming from S60, and going to Android, that's soon to be me also. I've heard some things reguarding Androids lack of maturity also, such as apps can't be saved to memory cards (yet), pictures from mms's can't be saved to your gallery.

I'm a current N95 owner, and am FERVENTLY waiting for ATT to launch Android phones!!!

Though I am debating how I feel about an all touch phone, I would prefer a smartphone that is similar to the Motorola Milestone, or a Touch Pro 2 running Android.

Now obviously you bought the Nexus One unlocked, but wouldn't an ATT branded Android smartphne take longer for an OS update?
