Verizon store vs. Radio Shack

RU02

If the 710 is out at my local radio shack, is there any reason not to get it there versus a Verizon store??
(phone quality, warranties, deals, etc)

I doubt it. The same warranties and qualities are going to apply to the first few production runs that Radio Shack gets as the ones the the VZW stores get.

I'm not sure about the deals, but in my area they seem to be pretty much the same. It's just a little harder to get a corporate store to work with you if you got your plan at another dealer.

😁 I just bought two V710's at Radio Shack today. I worked with the manager at RS and they were great. Very helpful, same deal as VZ, (319 w/2yr + 70 rebate) except that VZ doesn't have the phones in yet.

I also bought two other phones at the same time for a total of 4. That was enough to warrant a new RS credit account with no interest and a 10% discount. The phone was 288 after the discount, and $218 after the rebate. Not too Shabby. They can also take care of any warranties, software updates, etc.

🤣
Ha Ha. You'll be directed to a corp. store. Bring your receipt for any warranty issues! Don't need receipt if you have a phone only issue.

Verizon launches V710 in AZ Agathe. Existing customer on 2 yr agreement, Price plans $35.00 or higher can upgrade 22 months after last discounted phone purchase. Get $100 on two year extension of contract. Thats $319 minus $100 and mail-in rebate. $149 after rebate final cost. 🙂. Don't need to bring a receipt if purchased at corp. store. Their system keeps it on file.

There is actually a reason not to get it at radio shack. The phones are not updated with the current firmware and the problems have already started rolling in. I love it when a cust comes in with a radioshack v710 and is complaining about it.

And the extended warranty that force on people is a complete ripoff, AND the accessories (NOT oem, BTW) are $30 apiece. I know, I know, you get a discount when you buy a phone, blah blah.

Actually they MIGHT do the firmware upgrade for you - you'll have to leave the phone with them for 10-14 days, they'll ship it to a center in Ft Worth, TX, and they MIGHT call you when it comes in. No loaner while the phone is out, I might add.

Just try to get those clowns to answer a billing question for you - you'll get pawned off on a corporate store so fast it'll take your breath away.

OK Here we go a word or to from as you can see A person who works at RS.
First of all we were the first to get the V710 for one resson and that is as far as i know we do biger valume of phones then the vz stores and we have shorter waite time for phones no line no hassel. 2 id's and we are ready to go.
the waranty no matter how stupid it might sound or a sales pitch is prety good yes it does not cover allot of things such as physical damage and watter damage or lost or stolen but we change ur battery as many times as u want they are about $60 pop and the waranty is online $49.99. and that thing about our V710 being not as good as VZ are not tue i was the first one to buy it in my store in NYC do not have a problem with it and i do love it ...

Ugh. Another illiterate Radio Smack flunky... No wonder the company is going down the tubes.

A few corrections to make for you (I'll ignore the atrocious spelling for now):

1. RS sells more VZW handsets than VZW does? Ummm... no. The AVERAGE number of handsets sold PER RADIO SHACK STORE (5k) in a given day, Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, Tracfone, whatever, is just over 1. I'd put good money that a majority of those phones are Sprint handsets. Verizon stores sell, on average about 5 a day, usually more in given situations, but 5 is average. If, by some miracle, you ever get promoted & go to AU, you'll find out for yourself.

2. The ESO does NOT replace your battery "as many times as u want". You are limited to 1 replacement every 12 mon...

I know what you are talking and the firm ware problem is every were not only at rs. and the battery thing did change so did the som we can replace it as many times as we want. And i am trying to get out and i did aply at VZ but nothing can work around my school so for now im stuck. everything you said about working there is beyond true. what store did you work in what state. one thing is not truen the amount of phones we do I avreage about 15-20 phones a week and most of them being VZ my store is not a vision store but a VZ store.

I'm not telling what store I ran, but it was in Louisiana. I left just over 13 months ago. That's all you need to know. Remember, LP is watching you! Not supposed to be posting & referencing RS if you still work there, it's a terminating offense. Not to frighten you, but I know a couple of people who got fired over it.

When did the battery-replacement thing change? It was one in 12 months for years, I can't imagine they changed it, unless they changed ESO vendors.

This is the best possible advice I can give you. Stay in school, get a good education, and then leave R$ & never look back. When I left, I took 2 of my 4 employees with me to VZW, leaving the DM with the employee I was pretty sure was stealing and a newbie I had trained. I h...
