Reliable "unlocking" source for SonyEricsson phones
I would like to buy Cingular's W600i but need an unlocked version of it. Can anyone recommend a RELIABLE HONEST unlocking service that can unlock SonyEricsson phones?

If can live with it locked for a short time, I believe cingular will unlock it after 90 days of service provided certain billing conditions are met. Check with your local sales agent.

The Cingular sales agent at the core store I went to, said they do not unlock their phones any more. I was willing to pay full retail price for the phone. Mt business rep said I probably need to "get on the internet" and "find someone to unlock it".
So I'm a bit discouraged...

I think CS will tell you differently. I recently purchased a Z520a. As a former ATTW customer that migrated to Cingular, I was unable to transfer my phonebook from the old SIM/phone to the new SIM/phone since the old phone does not have IR or Bluetooth. Since cingular did not get any unlock codes from ATTW, because they did not have them, I asked that cingular unlock the Z520a to permit the transfer of contacts in my phonebook. They said that after 90 days in good standing, they would unlock the phone. That, however, doesn't address my problem with all the contacts. For 3 months I will only manually enter only the most often used contacts. Lame!!!

sometimes you do get the wrong info like that because former att phones cannot be unlocked. if you purchase it at full retail and keep the reciept and call customer care, they can get it done for you. you will have to fax in a copy of the reciept though.
