U.S. Cellular today announced the Samsung Galaxy Metrix, an Android smartphone that has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for messaging. The Metrix boasts a 4-inch display, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and access to U.S. Cellular's LTE 4G network. It is similar to the Stratosphere, which is sold by Verizon Wireless. U.S. Cellular customers who live in markets covered by LTE 4G can purchase the Metrix for $129 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Those who live outside LTE markets will be charged $179 after $100 mail-in rebate for the Metrix. It will reach select U.S. Cellular stores starting August 24.
