Motorola RAZR maxx Ve
Easy Way To Get Ringtones To Maxx?
What are the easy ways of doing it for the Maxx Ve? I know all about how to make them and what size limit there is, but is there an easy way to get them on the phone?
Suggestions?
picture message it to your phone.
Whatever I send to my phone, either .mp3 or .mid (with all the usual requirements in mind), I can't open the file and my phone won't play it. I get the following error message:
National Access Coverage Not Available
Suggestions?
To upload to the phone with a cable, try this thread:

MP3 and Mid are for Verizon in all of my experiences....
and that page you linked (useful information though, thanks) does not have any reference to "qcp" at all.... and since qcp files are 8 bit 16khz files, I don't think most people would want those as ringers on something as advanced as the MAXX Ve.
Where did you get that information?
I have the LG VX8700. It is easy to send ringtones (the tone is free, it probably costs 25 cents to receive it on your phone) to your phone as a pix and then save as a ringtone. Don't know if this will work for the Maxx but you might check it out.

actually.. I think I already read on a forum somewhere (maybe here? 😕 ) that it's not possible.. they're locking those features out one-by-one...
It's easy. Just rename the MP3 file to a QCP file, then you have 3 options:
1. Email to yournumber@vzwpix.com and save as ringtone.
2. Use Motorola Phone Tools, but set up as a KRZR K1mm.
3. Use P2kCommander with the data cable. This will also push MP3 format.
You can't OBEX ringtones to the phone.
I rename my .mp3s to .qcp--I don't reformat them, just change the ending. I save them to the desktop to find them easily.
After pairing my phone to my computer (a mac), I choose Browse Device, find my_ringers folder and select it, click on send, find my ringtone, and click send to get it to the phone.
And off it goes--success.
For some reason it didn't work two weeks ago, but it does now.
Ah, sweet mystery of the Verizon Maxx...If I can do it, you can too.

To begin, I "ctrl click" on the cut down mp3, and choose Get Info. About two thirds of the way down the pop up panel, Name & Extension appears. In that box is where I simply remove the .mp3 designation and type .qcp, and then close.
A small window pops up and asks, "Are you sure you want to change the extension from ".mp3" to ".qcp"? I choose Use .qcp. That ends this part of it.
Have you set up your phone for bluetooth? If so, I then turn on bluetooth on the Maxx (SETTINGS & TOOLS, #3 Bluetooth), choose OK, and then select my phone and choose On (left softkey).
I then tunr on bluetooth on my laptop, and browse device. I then select my phone from the browse device menu, ...

If you don't rename it, then it will be saved in My Sounds.

Actually, the network began treating ringtones differently on April 24th.
At Myxertones you can search for a certain ringtone or you can upload one of your favorite songs and edit it on their web site. Once you have the ringtone you want or customized, click the SEND TO YOUR PHONE option and it will arrive on your phone as a SMS Pix message. The message should arrive and play automatically when you opem it. Under the options menu there is a choice to save the sound. Save the sound and you're done.
Hope this helps
