Why???
Why does Moto continue to make RAZR's?.... seems like the name has been out long enough now that the general public, (not us junkies that hang out on here and other cellular info sites like crackheads), are thoroughly confused by the different "editions" and "upgrades" of this model... Shouldn't Moto have come out with something new surrounding this style, but with some new flare, or curves, or size, or thickness, or something?
RAZR's are way too popular and well known to have this many codes and model numbers associated with this name... It's hard enough for those of us within the industry to keep it straight, so I know it has to be tough for those out there with little to no knowledge of how the industry works and evolves...

Hasn't MOTO released the KRZR, SLVR, and RIZR models, to name a few? The MAXX is a similarly styled RAZR. Makes sense they keep the higher level brand name, no?
...
They keep the RAZR name because everyone knows it. It's well-known by EVERYONE. If Motorola gets rid of the RAZR, it will lose a lot of its image. Call the RAZR Maxx VE something else other than a RAZR and I GUARANTEE YOU sales will fall because the name won't catch their ear. "RAZR MAXX? Oh, that must be like an upgraded, really powerful RAZR!" Say "RAZR" and everyone knows what it is. That's powerful branding right there. Motorola would be stupid to rid itself of that trademark.

Agreed... and honestly, those people out there that aren't really into technology probably won't be eyeing the Maxx Ve just because of the price. They know they don't have the interest/knowledge to make decent use of something in that range. So they're going to get the OLD razr and never know the difference.
They're keeping the name because one day it will be out-moded and will be the $50 with $50 rebate phone... and the old razr will have been long gone... hopefully 😕 ... so they'll HAVE to have something in the store with the legacy name.
