Alarm, can't dismiss after an outside mute
KadarMay 7, 2007, 12:23 AM
I have had the u740 for about 3 weeks, and after a few days I discovered an unforgivable glitch in the alarm... This is both the regular alarm and the one in the calendar. I am refering to it as a "glitch" because it is, and it is very anoying to anyone who demands a correctly functioning alarm. ...In a nut shell it is this; When the alarm sounds, if one MUTES it using an outside key, (which is the most common and logical thing to do) then we forfiet the option to DISMISS the alarm upon opening the flip... That is, when you open the flip you will NOT be presented with a screen giving you the option to DISMISS or SNOOZE. This means that the alarm will keep sounding every 5 minutes for the next 25 minutes or so !!!! UNLESS you go into the men...

I was able to reproduce your problem and found no easy solution although it ocurred to me that by setting the proper options in your Calendar Mode you will be able to get a single ring that will stay off.
I tried that and it certainly works.

Thank you fredbillie for your response. I assume you are refering to the "REMINDER-OFF" setting for the calendar... Thanks again. This addersses the lesser of the 2 issues. The main alarm is still the one to fix. One thing I didn't mention in my orriginal message was that the rep that I talked to even told me that the patch cost him $10... So this isn't just a rumor of a patch, it really is out there somewhere... somewhere... somewhere...?

Out of curiosity I searched Google for the patch but the following result is all I could get and most (but not all) of the site seemed to be in Arabic:

Thank you again fredbillie for passing on your search results. I'll brush up on my Arabic, and follow this lead. I'm surprised that I am the only one (and you) who is aware of this problem enough to pursue a solution. Kadar

I actually use this problem to my advantage, as I am someone who has a tendency to slap snooze and roll back over again and again etc...
Would the 3rd party patch void any warranty or cause adverse affects to the Verizon UI or anything along those lines?
