Nokia is being kicked around
I've spoken to a Nokia rep from europe vacationing here and he basically told me that until the us carriers, especially cingular pulls back on their branding they will not pursue this market..they are king in europe, don't really need the USA and most americans don't make use of nokia's features for the most part anyway. Americans still hardly know how to text..just ask a few "avg" people. The carriers here make it too easy to call with so many free mins..free mobile to mobile..favorite numbers..etc...In Europe it's the complete opposite: mins are expensive and text is cheap-they also don't charge for incoming msgs. The only player that has a chance with branding Nokia's phones will be T-Mobile-especially with their presence already in Eur...

I agree about T-Mobile being one to watch out for.. They got a lot of the 3g spectrum in the recent bidding and will be very appealing if they get that UMTS network rolling.. Very tempting indeed

you are absolutely correct, Europe does favor nokia over any other brand, but most people here in the U.S are learning how to text and alot of people that have Cingular know how good nokia products are. i do not expect T-Mobile to get better any time soon, right now they have the worst service and they have had that for the past 2 years. however, I'm not really familiar with how fast they are expanding their service options and quality, so you might be right on them carrying more Nokia products then other U.S providers in the future.
