N95 and Sprint?

Hi. Is it possible for me to purchase this phone on my own, and use it with Sprint, keeping the same plan that I have, but without a 2-yr agreement (I am now halfway through my current 2-yr agreement).

On the other hand, I am considering getting the HTC Mogul, but I still want to stay away from a long term contract. Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Please OMG learn which technology your carrier uses and compare it to the technology of a particular phone uses. If you've been with Sprint a year, there is simply no excuse for not knowing what kind of network Sprint is.

Don't listen to that last guy. He's just annoyed because you're not informed that Sprint is a CDMA network, and the N95 is a GSM phone.

So, no, you can't make this switch. Look at the phones that Sprint has, buy online, call customer service, and switch what phone you're using. They won't FORCE you to sign another contract, but they might push an upgrade through them or something.

If you don't like Sprints phones, get a Verizon or Alltel phone that is UNLOCKED.

GSM networks use SIM cards. CDMA uses Serial Numbers to change phones.

That's why AT&T and T-Mobile are good, if you want to switch phones without calling customer care.

Sprint won't allow a non-Sprint branded phone to be used through their service. CDMA has R-UIN cards (or something like that) which are very similar to SIM cards but for CDMA, the US CDMA carriers don't use them at this time, they are used on Asian CDMA networks.

And I agree it would make life easier for alot of CDMA users.

In anycase, locked, unlocked, will they or won't they, this phone won't work on Sprints network unless they have some hidden gsm towers somewhere.

And I agree, if you have a VZW phone you like, its unlocked or what ever cdmadom does, why shouldn't they do an ESN swap on it? And vice versa. But I have heard in the past that they have put Sprint phones on their network.
