I am thinking about getting a N95 but had a couple of questions.
1. I understand that the N95 comes with a built-in GPS. Does this mean that it is free?
2. When connecting to the internet via WiFi, is the this free? Or will my carrier charge me for using the internet?

1a. The GPS information (i.e. your current coordinates) is free. The phone also provides AGPS (assisted GPS) which uses cellphone data transmission to assist the GPS in locating your position. The AGPS part can be turned off if you don't have a good data plan, and getting a fast GPS lock is not important to you.
1b. The maps are a different story. If you use Nokia Maps (the free app preloaded on the phone), you can pre-load them on the phone, and you will not need any data use to load them on the fly. Other programs, like Google Maps, use a data connection to load the maps on the fly, so this may add charges to your phone bill, if you don't have a flat rate data plan.
1c. Navigation is yet another story. Navigation with Nokia Maps is b...

- If I use the wi-fi feature at home, do I still have to pay as in 1b of your list when I load the nav4all maps?
- Are there internet charges when using the home wi-fi if one does not have a data plan with t-Mobile?
Thank you.

If you use WiFi at home you don't need to pay for loading the maps. You need to understand, however, that the maps in nav4all don't work the same way as the maps in Nokia Maps - you can't just say, for example, load the maps for Rhode Island, and pre-load them that way. You may be able to map a specific route while at home, and then count on the caching of the data by nav4all not to need any new downloads while you use it during travel. I've never tried that, and I don't know if it will work at all.
In general, any program that uses data will ask you which access point to use for the data connection. If the access point is your home WiFi, or any free WiFi connection, you will never need to pay anyone for the data downloads/uploads (yes, u...

VDP:
Thank you for the response. I just ordered an N95 and should be receiving it at the end of the week. I can see this is going to be exciting, enjoyable, and time wasting (er consuming) to get all these features to work as designed and on the cheap.

If you are in the US or Canada, I hope you got the N95-3, as it has several improvements over the original N95-1, and supports North American 3G data speeds.

So are you saying that Starbucks, and Barnes and Noble are not free WiFi?
What about Mcdonalds, I live in Las vegas, and quite a few Mcdonalds have WiFi.
