How to set ringtones per caller

I've just had my phone for a couple of days, and I got how to put ringtones on the BJ, but when I want to set one of the ringtones to one of my friends, it doesn't list it. What am I doing wrong?

contacts have to be saved to phone, not from sim...then go to contact, edit and scroll down to ringtone.
