I'm considering buying a blackjack but i'm a little confused by at&t's plans. Basically, i want to get unlimited internet and unlimited text messaging. But which plan would i have to get with the blackjack: the MEdia Max Unlimited Bundle for $39.99 OR the Smartphone Connect plan for $19.99 and pay the extra $19.99 for unlimited text messaging? What's the difference between the Media plans and the smartphone connect plans?
...
Just get the media max plan, they both work the same.
...
Yeah, I got the media max on my line and I don't use messaging that much. It allows me to have unlimited internet, cellular video, AT&T Music (with some subscription fees) all for $20 less than what they recommend (pda connect unlimited for $39.99). Hey, it saves you money and you're paying for the same exact thing!! 😲
...
the Media Max plan is for devices with T9 keyboards (like the RAZR). if you use it with a PDA device you WILL, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but SOON, find yourself being charged for every single data access you make.
AT&T is fixing the loophole that allows PDAs to run non-PDA data features. seriously, do not do this. when you start seeing the kind of charges you'll eventually get, you're going to call me and I will be able to do nothing for you.
...
The above post is correct. It will work for a while, but it will eventually charge you. And because you are on the wrong plan knowingly, you will be liable for every cent. Switch to the PDA connect, the proper plan for this device. You can even get it with unlimited text if you wish!

I've got a line item agreement from a rep at a cingular store for a family plan and unlimited internet and email on the smartphone plan, it's running on the blackjack. so for me there's no problem, and there's never been a billing issue. it may one day catch up with me, but i'm paying for what i agreed to. so, knowingly or unknowingly, this is what my rep said this phone would do on this particular plan and this is how much it is, and she was right.

I'm not exactly sure where deadeye-jim is getting his info but ATT reps regularly sell the media max plans to pda users I myself have this plan on my blackjack even had it with me at the store when i signed up for the plan. THERE IS NO requirement for purchasing the PDA plan whatsoever. and the part about being liable for the charges if they do NO you have a legal binding contract for that plan and they can't disregard it thats called breach of contract and is upheld in the courts on a daily basis.
Just a thought but if your going to provide info on a forum might be best to know what your talking about.

CSP resolution #62636
I do this every day man. I'm the guy who takes the calls and puts people on the correct PDA plan after they get charged on the Media Net plan.
...
incidentally, your data plan is not part of the contract, you can remove it at any time, it's a feature.
...
Wrong....Even though I am using the media max bundle with my blackjack, the plan says that I have unlimited internet. If you charge me for this you are incorrect. The fact that I have unlimited internet will win my case. I am going to keep this on my account because I work for them and I know their policies. You will NOT be held liable.
...
Wrong. You do not have a case. You will be held liable. I don't care if you work for them, you clearly do NOT know their policies.
...
Yes I do...the policy is called THE CUSTOMER RULES!!!
...
you should read the CSP resolution # I posted like, a month ago?
you're WRONG. the customer is always right, until they talk to the resolution team and find out that they are WRONG.
please, please do use the wrong media plan. you're irritating me and i'd love to deny you credits.
...
believe me, we deny customers full credits for their data charges all the time. customers insist that Canada is part of the US, the customer does not necessarily rule, particularly in Canada.
The Customer Rules is a motto, not a mantra.
