Motorola RAZR V3xx

All of a sudden after approx. a month or so my 3G Icon disappeared from my phone, I turned of my phone for a couple times, removed the battery and nothing, after that i called At&t, explained to them what was happening, they left me on hold for about 3 minutes, and when the rep came back she told me she had done a "system refresh", she then instructed me to turn off the phone for about 2 minutes and that the problem should go away after turning it back on, i did as she instructed me to do, and till this day i haven't seen the 3G icon on my phone anymore, now i don't even know if I'm running on edge or 3g.

Has this issue occurred to anyone else? if so what can i do to get the icon back on my phone?
