Third party maps & turn-by-turn directions software?
Since Verizon doesn't offer VZ Navigator with this phone, is there a third party software out there that has maps and turn-by-turn directs and utilizes the built in GPS unit and Mobile Windows Pro 6.0?

Have you tried google maps???

i put it on my phone, but haven't played much with it. i know it does have the gps function and directions, but does it use both at the same time to give turn-by-turn directions?

The I760 acctually does not have a built in GPS unit unfortunatly. I have trid and tried to get it to work, but have come to find that it does not a have a gps reciever in it. I has a GPS system that works through verizon's network, but not through GPS that is why there is no VZW Nav on the phone. The only time the "built in" gps will work is if you make a 911 cal and it is relayed to the Emergency operator. I personally use TomTom Navigator 6 with my phone and it should come with a Bluetooth GPS reciever as well. I also have Google maps too and use them both. hope this helped!

If you're using a bluetooth GPS receiver can you still have the hands free headset working while driving.(this is the law Around here! 🤨 )
or are you limited to one or the other?
I've also heard the i760 has problems switching between different bluetooth devices.
What happens with the GPS connection if you get a phone call ?
Any input with your Hands on experiences would be appreciated.

Excellent question, took the words right out of my mouth. I LOVE this phone, but the biggest con I have is no GPS, so I just came to realize that I will have to be reduced to buy yet another accessory for this phone, like the GPS Receiver with the software.
I am worried it will interfere with my BT headset while I am driving. Of course VZW is clueless on what to do. One rep even went as far to state "We just sell the products, we don't support them". Lovely.
Anyone helps us out? What is the biggest bang for the lowest buck? I hear that "E-Mobile GPS Companion" is a great app.

I bought a $60 receiver that was recommended somewhere on this site. It works great with Google Maps, no other software needed.
When a call comes through, the call goes on top of the map.
I haven't tried to use the BT headset at the same time. In theory, there should be no problem as the pico network that Bluetooth sets up is designed to handle multiple devices at once.

The "GPS" on the i760
along with most of the PDA/Smartphones from Verizon are A-GPS
which basically means, they use cell tower triangulation to see which towers your closest too.
Technically speaking, the GPS part shouldnt even be in the name. A more truthful name would be.
"Cell tower assisted location triangulation"
Would be more accurate.
There is no "SiRFstarIII " chipset contained in any Verizon phone that exists to this day.
Any mention of the word GPS should be followed by,
"if you buy one to pair with your phone"
And don't tell me about Navizon and Google maps new location features, there not true GPS either.
You see that in use on the iPhone.
Its cool, but its the same thing.
Real GPS uses satellites
"A-GPS" is a ...
