Texting?

Has anybody wondered how it would be to text on a flat surface?

Companies spend a lot of time researching what feels best to the fingers. How the keys respond and click when you press them. Even that little nub on the "5" key is a place finder. Like the "F" and "J" keys on your keyboard. The iPhone will be completely flat.

How do people feel about that? I know when I'm driving and dialing or texting I barley look at my phone. I find the 5 key and start texting. Will this be possible on the iPhone? Am I the only person that this concerns?

this phone will definitely require more attention than a roomful of 4 year olds... y'know, I never paid attention to those 5 F & J keys.

I guess "worst" case scenario is that its a pain in the ass while Im driving and I finally knock it off.. I really shouldnt text and drive.

I never really pay attention to those nubbed keys, i'm usually always looking at the phone. Keeping in mine that they keys are larger then that of a traditional rubber keypad, i don't think it should be a problem...but thats just my opinion. 🙂

Tell that to the Governor of NJ and his State Police driver, I think more training is in order to be able to drive down the Garden State Parkway at 92mph and be able to sms at the same time.

I think thats a valid concern. I admit I also have a bad habit of texting ocasionally while driving. I'll glance at the phone for a second until I get going but then I barely have to look at it. a flat surface will be completely different. I guess I will have to give up on-the-go texting, and just pay attention to the road.

That's why I have a problem getting the phone if it doesn't have voice dialing. When your driving how can you dial the phone with out looking right at it the whole time your dialing. That might just make it a no go. That's just basic on most phones now let alone on such a high tech phone as this is supposed to be.

For only like $5 a month you can have voice dial through at&t. it is really cool, all my contacts are stored on the network and all i have to do is dial *8 and say the name. it's great!
