A Few Qs
1- I keep reading that the next iphone will be released in late January .. does anybody here know if this is correct?
2- Also do you feel the next iphone will have GPS and 3G?
I'm on the bridge and don't know if I should jump in and get the iphone now or wait for the next release at this point.

I was on the fence about this same topic - and I actually posted asking about the 2nd generation.
From what I gathered in research is that the 2nd generation iphone is just speculation at this point. nobody knows when it is coming out. It could be around new year, it could be around november 08, who knows? Many have said it wont be for awhile because apple still needs to come out with euro versions of this phone. Also, they are talking about firmware upgrades in feb - which gives me the impression that a new model wont be out before or near feb. I could be totally wrong though.
Im probably going to get an iphone in about a month or so when I have the money. Hopefully by then we will hear something about the 2nd generation iphone,...

2nd generation iPhone is nothing more than speculation and I doubt that the phone will be released in January. However, it *MAY* be announced then but my guess is that we won't hear anything official until late spring or early summer.
I'm sure the G2 iPhone will have 3G but GPS may be less probable. I would expect more WiFi/Cell location applications out early next year, after the release of the SDK, that will offer GPS like abilities without the added hardware that would increase the phones size or power consumption.
