one person says no..you can only get up to 1500 messages..but the tour manager of kse just got one and told me that he gets unlimited texting for 10 bucks...???
...
No, here is the deal.
the 59.99 plan comes with:
- 450 anytimes minutes
- free nights and weekends (or 5000 mins)
- 200 txt messages
for $10 dollars (so 59.99 + 10 = 69.99) you can upgrade your txts from 200 to 1500
I think for an additional $10 after that (so 59.99 + 10 + 10 = 79.99) you upgrade from 1500 to 5000 or unlimited or something.
keep in mind that if you hook up an email account to it (gmail, aol, yahoo, etc...) that each email sent and received counts as a txt... so 200 goes QUICK.
hope that helps.

you don't pay for emails on the iPhone. That falls under a data plan.
if you set up your email account to "text" you email, yeah, that uses text.
...
That is awesome info, thanks. I totally thought it was each email = 1 txt. To me 1500 was a no brainer at that point... but maybe I will consider downgrading. I'll check my bill to see my average usage.
Thanks for the info.

No problem. Email falls under internet usage. I know you can get emails converted to "text" form and sent to you, but that's redundant. When you actually go to a webpage on the phone, and check your email like you would on a computer, you're not using text.
...
Ok wait, this I knew... when checking email through the safari browser, it does not cost you anything ...
BUT I was under the impression, if you set up your IMAP or POP email account to your iphone so all you have to do is tap the "Mail" button on the main menu, all of those emails (sending and receiving), it costs you a txt.
Is this true? That is what I gathered from the AT&T rep
...
also i found out there is a unlimited text message plan from cingular now..if you look...its $20 bucks unlimited...
...
or just unlock it and keep your current plan and sim card.
take that AT&T.
...
....it shouldn't. it still falls under data. I mean, with Sprint I have my mail pushed to my phone through IMAP, and it doesn't count as texts.
I think the rep was just trying to "sell" you on that one.
...
Emails do not count as text, they are data whether you check them via Safari or you set it up via the email program. How you retrieve it does not make a difference. The only way that email crosses over (for lack of a better way to put it) is if you have a text message filter that notifies you that you have an email. For example you can do that with Yahoo or Gmail. Other than that email is data.
