I have the US version?
riotApr 26, 2007, 4:47 PM
I received a 6300 as a gift recently. It's a neat little phone, but not my first choice. I noticed a lot of people are saying there is no US version, but the literature that came with my phone has me puzzled.
The box says "Wide tri-band support; EGSM850, EGSM900, and GSM1800/1900." I'm on the Cingular network and this phone has been working just fine. This phone was purchased in Thailand.
Is there any other way to check what frequencies it supports?

very curious about this...may just be the box labeling. If you learn anything else, post it here!

You can easily see if it is the USA version by looking under the battery by the serial numbers. all nokia phones that are made in two forms (one being with 850mhz for use in north America) will be labeled with a "b" next to the model number. so if you phone says "6300b" then it is the us version. if it says "6300" then it is not.
also, what are your first impressions of the phone? how about battery life? also, does it allow "timed profiles" ?
I want to purchase this phone as a newer replacement to my current nokia 6230. 6230 is hands down the greatest phone I have ever used and 6300 looks like and ideal upgrade.

I work part time for a Dobson agent and we just got this phone in a few days ago. I won't know much about it until this weekend when I get a chance to spend some more time with it.
I did hold it and turned it on without the SIM card. It feels solid. Screen is big and looks nice. Same screen as the 6126. Anyway, it looks like a solid phone so far. I'll try and remember to post back after I play with a bit.

Cincy Bell just got this phone last month and so far we've had no problems yet. The screen is amazing and the pictures seem better than my n91 pics. Overall it seems like a very solid phone. And of course we do have the American version of the phone with 850
