I have been a Verizon customer for many years. I am starting to get tired that their phones always come out later then the other cell companies, they disable features and lastly their CDMA network does not work in Europe. Even the new 8830 that has GSM is locked so you have to use their cards in Europe. I have stayed with them because I have always felt that they had better coverage. I am very interested in the 8300 and know it will come to Verizon as a CDMA with features disabled much later. So I guess what I am asking is the following: For those of you who moved from Verizon to Cingular - was it worth it? Obviously it is worth it for the features - (by the way does Cingular lock certain features on the 8300 too?) Coverage is very im...

I was having the same problem but I was condsidering switching to verizon from cingular. I have been with cingular 3 months and love their network. i have yet to drop a call and i always have at least 4 bars!!! the only reason i was going to leave was because cingular doesnt have insurance on their smartphones. well after posting many forum messages on here i have decided i think im going to stick with cingular. i cant live without my early night and weekends 🙂 and besides i am beginning to see why people say insurance is a waste. when i was with sprint, and i did a claim and they sent me another phone, that phone would be in worse shape than my other one 🙂 i really like cingular and their strong network however they could improve their cu...

Run don't walk to AT&T. I moved from Verizon too and couldn't be happier. Great network here and abroad. Oh, and don't forget those rollover minutes. It's great actually getting to keep the minutes you pay for. And AT&T does get the best devices first. Not to mention to can switch between devices at will with a SIM card.
I hated being on the tail end of technology when it came to handsets on Verizon and then if and when it did release, you got crippled, last years technology.

Thanks for you answers. I just called Cingular to price out the phone and plans. They did not pressure me to move over to them and I liked that. The price of the plans is about the same as Verzon (although Cingular has roll over minutes which is very nice). The phone for a two year contract is going to cost me $179 (with rebate) and they are giving me a second phone the LG CU400 for free. I think I would jump on it but Verizon said I will have to pay a $150 cancellation fee as one of my phone's contract does not run up until November. I probably can make up some of this by selling my LG8600 but don't know what that will bring me at ebay. The cingular person said that since I would have a 30 trial period I should keep my phone with Ver...

yes verizon has a history of crippling certain feats on phones however they have responded to the criticism and taking steps away from it. Besides how many of these feats were you actually looking to use? Even more importantly especially when talking about high end phones and pda's, verizon has a much larger broadband network. Unless you are in some of the largest cities like nyc you aren't likely to enjoy all the services you had on verizon with at&t. And last but not least the all important issue of warranty and repair. By switching to at&t you sacrifice in house technical service. As i am a verizon customer i can tell you that as pissed as i get sometimes with their store techs it is still an invaluable service. Its as simple as a visit a...

if you have verizon what do you know about cingular's tech team? cingular offers over the air updates, software upgrades device tutorials etc. and about vodaphone in Europe... cingular allows you to UNLOCK your phone which gives you the advantage of getting the best price in whatever market your in, in Europe!!

I've been with VZW for almost 8 years. I recently decided to give ATT a try. I have 4 lines with VZW. I signed up with only 2 lines with new phone numbers with ATT to try them out. It's easier that way rather porting numbers back and forth between carriers. In my opinion, it is the same coverage and services with ATT compared to VZW. ATT in my opinion is just better. So now that I've decided to keep ATT, I will add 2 more lines to ATT and port all 4 VZW phone numbers to ATT to keep my same VZW numbers. I'm leaving VZW for crappy and cripple phones, more expensive BB data plans than every other carrier, and their overall efforts to work with and retain customers. From what I hear from several people at work that have ATT, they will always wor...

Mif, I go up and down the east coast and never have I had a problem with Cingular service. Cingular has given me coverage in areas where no one else had coverage including Verizon Wireless. I've gotten coverage in major metropolitan areas, as well as suburban and rural areas with Cingular. It has been great for me. My brother has Cingular and travels all over the country and the only place he's had issues with Cingular coverage was in California in the mountains.

I work for a Cingular agent store and I switch from Verizon the day I was hired and noticed a HUGE difference. To tell you the truth. Cingular (henceforth AT&T) has way way way better coverage than Verizon. AT&T blows Verizon out of the water, plus AT&T has the largest data network. I just bought the BB 8300 a couple days ago, and it is an INCREDIBLE phone! Its quadband, so you can use it in Europe, and you an unlock it for $20 ( http://www.gsmphonesource.com/ ). I'll let you know if any features were locked (I'm waiting for the unlock code to be emailed to me). TONS of features are available though. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

One more thing, the 8300 works in over 130 countries with its data services and 190 for voice

I got a Nokia N75 last week and am considering exchanging for a 8300? I had a Treo 700W at Verizon and just switched to Cingular, missing the Qwerty keyboard a bit. What are your thoughts on these 2 phones? Thanks for the input

Big time pass on the N75. Have you seen the thing? Its like a brick! Terrible design. The sleek design, full keyboard, and endless features of the 8300 make it a must-have. I'd highly highly recommend the 8300. I have hardly put it down for a couple days. I love it more than any other phone I've ever handled, and I've had to thoroughly learn and test many many different phones. The BB 8300/Curve is the winner

Totally agree with you ATL. I'm an agent, as well. I can't put it down! 😁 This device is supposed to make me more productive!?!? I actually returned my N75, for several reasons. First off, I love Nokia and it's nothing against them. I still believe they're the best phone maker in the world. However, the N75 should have come out 6 months ago, and basically during that 6 months, someone (not Nokia) turned it into a mediocre phone. I'd be surprised if Nokia makes another smartphone for the new AT&T, the phone-maker formerly known as Cingular.
I've had my Curve since Friday, and I absolutely love it. I, too, believe that this is the best phone I've ever owned. I've found everything, from menus, features, and the manipulation them,...

Thanks ATLAnder and thanks everyone else. I am going to get the phone at the end of the week. By, by Verizon. I went to a store in Yonkers, NY that is an agent for AT&T (exclusive) but not, I don't know what to exactly call it but I guess they are an outside agent? They do not have the phone yet, said they would have it in a few weeks. They said that when they sell their phones it comes with more items then they do when you buy the phone online or by telephone. For instance they showed me a blackberry (I forget the model) that comes with an extra extended battery, the back for it and a USB cable (he said this is the normal way it comes from Blackberry and they remove these extra items when you buy it online), he said that when you buy ...

Well, I won't get into specifics about how agents operate... :-D BUT What exactly was the price and what items came with it? I paid $300 with 2 YR agreement and $39.99 Unlimited internet + 1500 text messages, and I have a $100 mail in rebate (by the way, I work for'em, but i don't get anything free! I had to add a line to my existing account). Anywhoooo, the phone comes with earbud headphones (which sound GREAT!), software (which you can download the latest version of off the BB website), data cable to transfer files to and from PC, and of course manual. Let me know what else is included in this package of yours and the price of it. I'm a straight shooter and won't lead you astray!

I did it!! I have left Verizon and got the curve. Still setting it up. Trying to get it to work with my contacts in Mozilla Thunderbird instead of outlook. Anyone know how to do this? Great phone - will review it in a week after I really put it through its paces...MIF.
ATLAndre3000G - it came with everything you said, they gave me 2 car charges free of charge.
