Dust Under the Screen

So there is already a lot of dust under the screen of my curve, it's a little bit annoying I must say, I also don't understand how it really gets there. Boo.

I am seeing the same thing, and once the iPod frenzy dies down at my AT&T store I plan to bring it in. Love the phone, but hate the dust, which makes viewing in sunlight really tough.

I suggest returning it to the store (if it is within the 30 days) if not doing an XBM...after you recieve the new one, I suggest getting a case for this phone. All blackberrys are suppose to be covered.

I've had my Curve for less than 30 days and I am beginning to see dust accumulate under the screen already. Does anyone know how the dust is getting there and if I return the phone, will I have the same experience with the new one?

The dust is creeping in between the front screen and the plastic of the faceplate. I had so much dust in mine that I decided to take the phone apart and clean it out. Risky business indeed but now I am dust free. I'm pretty sure they all will do it, I have a case on the way to hopefully protect it from happening.

Thanks pepsijunky for you response. I was told by the AT&T rep that the problem was caused by keeping the phone in your pocket. I am not convinced. Is there anyone out there who dose not carry their phone in their pocket, but still has dust under the screen?

Also, I noticed that the dust creeps in from the right side of the screen. Is this the same for everyone else?

Would a case cover help? There are some on Crackberry.com that are made of rubber. They leave the screen, keys, etc. exposed. I'm wondering if the case would cover up the "leak spot" where the dust is coming in.

Just wondering...

Can I post a link for the cover?

The dust problem is perhaps one of the most annoying gripes I have about the Curve. I bought one of those silicone case thingies that fit around the Curve and found that to help a lot. A little bit of dust still manages to get under the screen, but definitely not as much.

Apart from disassembling the faceplate for cleaning, this is the only viable solution I've found which decently works. The silicone case is a nice addition anyway since it helps keep your Curve's case from getting all scratched up. A worthwhile investment in of itself.

I definitely got the most dust under my screen from it being in my cargo shorts. There must be a lot of crap in the pockets of those kinds of shorts. Now I've cleaned my phone out and I wont put it in my pocket without a cover.

My Nokia 3220 had dust. The good thing about that phone is that you can easily take apart it's "shell" pieces for easy cleaning.

How hard was it to take apart and clean the Curve I wonder?

I definitely would need a case if I bought this phone. It will be in my pocket most of the time.

Does everyone have dust inside their Curves? I was all set to buy one weeks ago, but got scared off because of this problem.

Ok. I've had the Curve for about 2 months now. I bought a rubber cover for it (only the faceplate and keys show). I've had absolutely NO issues with dust. I keep my phone mostly in my pocket.

Just thought I would share.....

I bought a condom case too - the only problem is the dust that got under the screen before I purchased the cover.

Because of dust under the screen I took my Curve back to the AT&T store where I purchased it. It was well beyond the 30 day in-store return policy. They connected me with AT&T customer service and they have sent me a new Curve. A good outcome.

Please let us know if you get dust in this one too. I returned mine and went back to my Pearl because in 3 days I started getting dust under the screen. The gap between the rubbery outer and the upper harder plastic on the right hand side of the screen just above the volume buttons is where my dust was getting in. I blasted that crack with canned air and all the dust blew to the left side of the screen (out of view, at least). But with that much dust in 3 days, it was going back.
