Fix Cracked Keys?
Hi, I've been thinking about buying one of these phones and was wondering if anyone has actually had their cracked keys fixed?
Also, if you unbrand the phone, does anyone know for sure if it is still covered by the AT&T, Best Buy, or Sony Ericsson warranties?

I've never personally come across a cracked set of keys, and am more then a little dubious of these 'reports' running around regarding them seeing how I text more then a 16 year old girl and mine have held up like champs. If they are damaged though, it's covered under warranty in most cases unless said damage was caused by physical impact like a drop etc etc.
And no, if you flash the firmware and debrand the phone, consider it persona non grata with whatever carrier you purchased it from unless you A)have some way of reflashing it with your carrier's firmware (got a roomate that is a tech for them perhaps?) or B) completely demolish or conviently lose the phone, yet your policy happens to be one of those "lost, stolen, or broken" all inc...

MY # KEY CRACKED AFTER ABOUT A MONTH. PROBABLY DUE TO EXCESSIVE TEXTING. DID EXCHANGE BY MAIL, BUT SAID I WAS HAVING A DIFFERENT ISSUE WITH THE PHONE TO AVOID THEM SAYING I DAMAGED THE KEYS. I NOTICED THE CRACK ONLY WHEN THE KEYPAD WAS LIT UP. SO I EXCHANGED IT QUICK BEFORE IT WAS MORE NOTICABLE

i work in att warranty exchng dept- any att/cingular handset that has its software modified by the user to unbrand handset or unlock it isnt officially able to be supported under att warranty exchange & should exchange or repair thru manufacturer.. HOWEVER normally indication of liquid/phys dmg isnt covered wheather cust feels it was caused by them or not (unless DOA replcmt or purchace) but for this phn there is an exception or an advisory notification by manufacturer that under normal usage of this phn keys are prone to cracking & can be covered so as long as no other evidence of phys or liquid dmg exists.. jeez i sound like friggin lawyer 🤣

My replacement should be coming to me within the next three days or so. Went to a corp store, they told me about the advisory and to just call in. Called, told them my problem, said that the liquid indicator was still white, no corossion on battery contacts, and no user-caused damage (all true), and they put in the order. I just wish they allowed replacement with a different handset, I don't want to deal with the cracked keys or laggy interface again. Oh well, at least my #key should work now. 🤣

Just exchange through Sony Ericsson. i have had to do this 2 times now. i bought it unlocked before att carried the phone.
sony ericssons customer support was amazing. 1 i repeat 1 automated option and then to a person took me less than 10 minutes each time. however you do have to ship it first for them to fix it when going through manufacturer. took about 10 days to get mine back.
