In the first place, the V8's Linux system is slower than the V9's Synergy system and if you are accustomed to the V9 you will notice that the V8 is slower. Every menu simply operates more slowly because the operating system is new and nobody has spent much time optimising it.
By contrast, the V9 appears to simply speed through the menus very quickly, making good use of the 512 MHz processor.
(I use both V9's and V8's, and despite what I just said my everyday phone is a 2GB V8 LE.)
