I've had great reception on this phone so far. I'm in southeast GA and I've taken it way into the country as well as to Jacksonville, FL and Savannah, GA. No trouble so far. I'm taking it out to Alabama this weekend. I'll post again when I get back.

You are looking into the "bars" thing way too much. Sure everyone loves to see 5 bars, but its really not overly significant on a digital network. As long as you have a signal and have a clean call it doesn't matter. Try the phone out and see how it sounds for you. Thats why they have the worry free guarantee. If you don't like it send it back and try something new.

The problem is when you are in a low coverage marginal area you want to have the highest signal possible so you do not lose the call.

Well I got the phone activated. In a spot where I normally see 1 bar I am getting 2 and my last 2 calls were crystal clear.

I have 3 bars in town and 1 or 2 in the sticks, but all calls are clear. I haven't dropped a call yet, even way out on the county roads. (I'm in southeast GA)
