I updated last night, I have noticed the SD card symbol before was always white no matter what color scheme I had selected. Now it matches the color scheme... another small change is when replying to a text message, before the recipients' name would be shown and the cursor would start on the 1st line below the name. now the cursor still starts on the 1st line below the name but the message scrolls down to hide the name your sending the message to. I liked it better the other way prior to the update.

I went to Verizon support page for Q9M. There was a link which took me to the Moto Web Page for the file & instructions. I have not updated, not sure if it is worth the trouble, unless it speeds up performance.

I spoke to Verizon, and they told me they will not upgrade the software. It has not been approved by them. If you want to do it, you have to do it yourself. However, if you do they will bnot service the phone anymore.

Sounds like the person behind the counter at the Verizon store didnt know what he/she was talking about.

The update was not made by "some hacker dude"
It was made by Motorola SPECIFICALLY for
The Q9M phone.

This isnt like going out and putting linux on your ipod and trying to take it into an Apple store for support.
This would be installing Motorola/Verizon software on a Verizon phone, and Verizon saying you installed a firmware update on your phone, that we wont support you anymore because of. Its possible the update didnt exist yet on Verizon's software update link yet.
But I'm sure its up their now since the update contains updates for Exchange Server 2008.

Re-download the newest software again,
you may have downloaded a corrupted or wrong firmware, or the link itself took you to the wrong file to download.
And to be certain, your talking about the
Q9M not the old Q, or Q9C, or Q9H.
Each firmware published is specific to each model of phone.
For example th Q9M firmware will not work with the Q9C or the Q9H or the old Q.

You can force the phone to accept the update again by staring it up in "flash ready" mode.

read this link, to know how to do it yourself.

Or here is the text incase the link doesnt work.

THE FOLLOWING WAS FOUND ON THE URL ABOVE
"
Manually put your Q into flash mode
This is only good to know if you have trouble upgrading your firmware, but I did find this nugget of info in a discussion related to the MOL2/MOL3 upgrade on the Q.

With the phone turned off, hold down A and [Enter] and plug the USB cable into your computer. "
