Motorola Q9m / Q9c

I currently have the Q and am very happy with it but it is over a year old and is starting to freeze a little bit every few days. I was waiting to upgrade to this phone but it does not really seem like an upgrade other than going from Windows Mobile 5.0 to 6.0. It does not have Wifi and does not appear to be upgradeable to EVDO Rev. A. Plus, I am eligible for an upgrade but not new every 2 so the phone would be $349.99 and there was no online discount available to me - it may only be available to new customers as Verizon always tries to give better deals to new subscribers instead of loyal customers who have been with them for about 7 years. I am just disappointed because it just does not appear to be worth it to upgrade to this phone fr...

Anyone have slight hissing and interference noises every so often on any of your calls? It happens every so often seems like it is getting interference from the battery or something in the phone is causing it.....thanks.

I've had my original Q since August 2006. When I first bought it, I did the registry tweaks from quser/howardsforum, added a few cool themes and been very happy over the past year, except for battery life. Turning off "accept incoming beams" and adjusting display timeout, etc helped and I used to get about 3 days out of the standard battery. It was extremely rare for me to experience any crashes or have to reboot as some people have written.

When I dumped my work Blackberry and started using Activesync for work Exchange email and added Hotmail syncing, the battery life was hit very hard. With the extended battery, If I didn't charge it nightly, it would be dead by morning.

My company pays for my phone so I don't really care about price. I'm trying to decide on the new Q v. Treo v. LG Env. I don't care about editing or even reading documents but want great email, fast internet and good picture clarity. What's the best Verizon phone for me? I'm not sure I need the size of a PDA. It seems like Treo is the best PDA though.

Way to slow for me. Windows mobile is limited compared to s60 phones. Ive been fiddling with my friends 755p and i like it much better. It has a fster processor higher resolution, and the palm os is better than windows mobile, atleast for me.

I sure wish there was a wap hack for these smartphones.

Currently I have a dying Treo 650 on VZN and also had a Moto Q which was disappointing.

Does the Q9m or WM6 support threaded SMS? The Palm OS Treos use a chat style or threaded SMS application as does the Treo 750 a WM5 device on ATT.

Just got the phone - was trying to text last night in the dark and realized the lights that light up the keys on the keyboard were not on. Does this phone have a backlight for the keyboard? how do i turn it on?? thanks

Does anyone own an apple computer and the new Q9m? Do you have any problems syncing the phone to your Mac? Can you view/open .mac mail or is it only outlook express? Has anyone tethered the phone to their computer for internet connection (pc or mac)? How does it work? 😳

Anyone find out how to load jar games on this phone? I have never been able to load jar games on windows mobile.

Noticed on Engadget that some users are positive that a wifi card will work in the new Q. Anyone have one yet and can confirm? I have a Black Q now, works great on pretty much all fronts, however web browsing is glacially slow (and I'm in OC in SoCal, pretty metropolitan area with plenty of high speedd coverage). If you've actually used one, please post, and if so, what does it do to the battery life?

Any clue on how to make ringtones? I haven't had a smartphone sine the Kyocera 7135. Any help would be great.

Does the camera still take a week to start up like on the Q?

My old Q was hanging on by a thread, so I used my new every 2 plus the 50 rebate, should cost me 199...I ordered it this morning and will have it by noon tomorrow. Astonished that all the hardware is the same, I am hoping the software and 2 user interfaces will be worth it. Hopefully the software is more efficient.

this is just a dolled up version of the old Q? Seems pointless to me, theres no real upgrade. 😕
