HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900
GPS: Yes or No...?
When I bought my HTC Touch, some cute young Sprint girl told me the phone had built-in GPS. However, when I began playing with the phone I could not locate any apps that engage any kind of GPS. Then, I read that the HTC Touch IS GPS enabled, but until they push a software upgrade, it will not work.
Did the cute young girl sell me a bunch of B.S. or is GPS coming to this phone? If there is a software push, when will it be and what, if anything, will I have to do to begin using GPS?

The upgrade will be sometime between the end of Dec and the end of Jan. Until then all it has is maps on the Windows Live app, which is just like google maps. I know how you feel I was also told there was sirius and sprint radio in the phone with my data plan. Can't find either one.

The update patch will be for the Mogul AND the Touch. Each will have their seperate update Roms..

No, Don't do that.. Wait for the version to be released for the Touch. The roms are completely different. Even though the phones are very similar, the Roms are very different.

The 6800 (Mogul) just got its GPS firmware ROM update so the Touch should be on its way within the next few months. Sirius radio can be added through a 3rd party app and unfortunately there is no "Sprint" radio but with the Flash rebuild AND TCPMP (provided by PPCGeeks to watch YouTube) you can go to shoutcast.com and listen to an abundance of live radio stations (with a slight delay) ... hope this helps 😈

Yes this phone does have GPS capabilites but they are currently locked from my knowledge. There is to be a ROM update from what i have heard that would address this issue and POSSIBLY make it Rev A compliant (this is hearsay and i cannot 100% verify this) but i did hear that the end of Jan early Feb this was to come out (although i heard the Rev A puch might come a little later) ... Google Maps 2.0 is a free download and will give you directions, traffic updates, and real satalite views (JUST PLEASE REMEMBER TO ADD A DATA PLAN !!!) as this app takes huge chucks of data.

I also have a Touch. I just got back from a meeting with the vendors for my company. I talked directly to the HTC rep and he said the Mogul's GPS will be unlocked in March and the Touch will follow 60 to 90 days later. I can't wait!!!
