HTC Touch (CDMA) / XV6900

I am having problems syncing the XV6900 to Vista. I have a large number of contacts, so I reduced the contacts and deleted the original partnership. I connected using the USB cable and made a new partnership. I was able to get a small (couple hundred contacts entered). After this sync was made, no more seem to be able to be done. I am able to connect both with USB and bluetooth. There are no conflicts showing, you can view files, the computer thinks it is syncing, but the HTC XV6900 says that the synchronization could not be completed and the last time it was synced was just after the device partnership was deleted and the smaller list of contacts was put in.
