Dialing phone numbers-advice appreciated
I am a new owner of the Tilt and am still getting accustomed to this mini-computer. I frequently need to dial numbers with my thumb while driving and have quite a bit of difficulty because of the small size of the numbers. It seems quite laborious to slide the phone open to use the keyboard--how do others do this? Does this recognize voice commands? Thanks for your input-

You can record voice commands to use, but the Tilt does not have speaker independent voice dialing. Meaning you'd have to record a name/phrase for every person you wanted to be able to call using voice dialing.

Thank you for your input. In the three days I have owned this device, I would describe it as among the best PDA phones I have owned but the dialing capability is really poor for those of us who frequently use one hand to complete phone functions/ dialing/ responses/ etc.

I agree - that's a problem (to me, at least) with virtually all touch screen phones.
On the Tilt, though, I have found that the touch screen phone keypad is fairly lenient. You don't have to use your fingernail (or the stylus) to press the buttons, you can just go ahead and use your thumb or finger. The touch screen seems to sort out your intent pretty accurately, presumably by figuring out where the "bulk" of your finger is centered.
I have also noticed that the recorded voice command system on the Tilt is rather sensitive to background noise, which makes it more difficult to use than it should be. All-in-all it seems substandard to me.
I hope you're able to find a solution that works well for you.

Thank you for this response. The only progress I have made in the past 1-2 days is to realize we can touch the first digit of the phone number and a drop down list appears. I find moving the "cursor" down to highlight the desired number using the jog wheel is unnatural for me. Using the 5 way navigation button to complete the same task has been easier---then just touch the Talk button and the call is dialed---far from easy but getting a bit better at this point!
I wonder who they hire for this product analysis!!
