downgrade?
everywhere i look i read that this has a 3mp camera but as far as i remember the a990 had a 3.2mp shooter. Am i missing something?

I think so. Maybe less of a downgrade and more of a, "Hey, we re-released the same phone but it's cheaper!" kind of move. I have the a990 and the literature says 3.2MP. I think Samsung has a 5.0MP cam-phone that they're working with VZW on now. Maybe VZW is trying to scoop up those cusotmers that wanted the a990 but couldn't afford it. I'm a camera fan so VZW won't get my attention until I see something greater than my current 3.2MP a990.

One thing to remember, not all cameras are created equal. Just because it has the same/different MP rating does not mean it is the same/different quality. You have to look at the lens, the processor, etc. There are 3MP cameras that take better pics that some 5MP cameras.

I amnage an indirect store and the Samsung rep told us that the 3.0 is actually better picture quality that the older 3.2, which is great, and keep inmind that the difference of .2mp is not visible to the human eye anywa, so don't look at it as a downgrade, but different.

Are you sure this "rep" wasn't just some high school drop out working in a kiosk? All while trying to sell you a phone by pulling things out of thin air?
I have some research for you to do. Maybe you will learn something. Go find out what resolution means. Then find out the numbers that are used to equal the resolution. Then go find a 3.0mp camera, and also a 3.2mp camera. Now take what you learned about resolution and numbers, compare these two cameras, and then come back to phone scoop and tell us what you see.

Again I say .2 MP is not that much difference and the point was that the it's more important that the quality is better not that you are being so technical what a dork, you are more worried that the technical director from Samsung who gave the training was a high school drop out, well I know several High school drop outs that are geniuses. Get a life.

The cameras on the pearl, voyager, and venus are all 2.0MP and they look better than the camera on the 990.

i have a flipshot. my friend has a nokia slider on metro pcs and his nokia takes a WAY better picture in low light with flash, in day time they are about the same.... think about it

I agree - if you want to get technical about it, this camera is a 3.145728 mega pixel camera... Not a 3MP or a 3.2MP. I can believe that people don't get this. I have seen numerous posts (here and HF) of people arguing about if it's a 3 or a 3.2MP camera.... It's NEITHER. hehehe 😁

does this phone have a touch screen?
if so, can u lock the front screen and can u dial a number or send a text message using a touchscreen number/keypad without flipping the phone open? .. somewhat like the LG Voyager or Venus
