SureType
Could not get "The Quick brown fox jumped..." on this thing without multiple errors and frustrations. The letters don't seem to be where I expect them. Versus, took me no 1 minute to type on a qwerty 8820. Too bad because the store rep showed me a non-working model and it was super-slick. (Tried suretype on another model.) Should I just give up and go qwerty? I obviously like the smaller size, won't be typing that much. How has everyone gotten so use to it?

I haven't tried one of these yet, but from what I've been told, it takes about a week to get used to suretype. If you can text on a regular cell, suretype shouldn't be too hard.

thats my biggest dilema!!! at first i was looking into the voyager, but does not have outlook, and then i was looking at the 6800, but that doesnt have the vznav, which is a must for me, and then i was lookin at the pearl which pretty much has everything i need!!!, but then again doesnt have the full qwerty keyboard!!! but after playing with it for a lil bit, it seems to take full advantage of the predictive texting!!! its actually not bad. I think i just might jump on it, cause overall its a really nice phone!!! and on top of it all. it has the blackberry reliabilty we have all learned to love!!!

SureType actually isn't so bad. I was expecting it to take FOREVER for me to send texts and emails. I got my pearl last friday and by saturday night I was able to text without a problem at all!

I got my Pearl on Friday, coming from a Moto Q, and its taken a bit of adaptation but its growing on me. It also took me a few days to get used to the Q when switching from a Treo, so its to be expected. I'm satisfied so far with the way Suretype learns words, and it has a good dictionary built in.

I tried both the 6800 and Samsung i760 in the last 2 months. The 8130 has them (and all others I have looked at) beat hands down. This phone just works right and doesn't have the huge overhead that Windows imposes. I can't stand touch screens either - can't be used single handed. The suretype took me about 2 days to get used to and the list of often used words makes it easier as you go along. And VZNavigator is something to behold IMHO. Email: it just works great.
You couldn't pry this phone out of my hands. Period.

I received my Pearl Tuesday and dove right into the SyreType. At first I was becoming extremely frustrated with it ... in fact to the point of returning the phone.
However, later in the day I kind of forgot about SureType while in a long text session with a friend ... I realized that I wasn't having any problems with SureType at all.
With that said it will take people a day or even a few to get comfortable with SureType and the Pearl's keyboard.

Don't give up on the suretype. Just type without thinking much about it. Then go back and correct any errors. The phone learns words so as time goes on it will be more accurate.
