Any way to type more than 160 characters in SMS text? PLEASE SOMEBODY?

Just wanted to know when u are texting in SMS is there any way to type over 160 characters like u can on regular phones cause this 160 limit is driving me nuts from what i am used to with my envy. I do know yes in MMS u can but what bout SMS? Thanks if anyone can help

I don't know about VZW, since they have EMS enabled on their network, but not possible on Sprint's...sorry!

Your EN-V had the same limit. The 160 character limit is SMS in general and not phone dependent.

yes true, but lots of phones will automatically start a second message, and it will automatically send two messages or however many pages you type. a couple of my previous phones did this but from what i have read there is no way to make the VZW Pearl able. I would love this feature as well but so far no way to do so. sorry

Those would be EMS (Enhanced Message Service). The phone has to support EMS to handle it as you describe. The Verizon 8130 does not support EMS, it only supports SMS (Short Message Service) so 160 Characters is what we get.

I’m not sure if this will be any conciliation to you but, do realize that when you send a text over 160 characters (EMS message), even though your phone may allow it, if the recipients phone adheres to the 160 character limit the message may be truncated (cut off) at 160 characters and the rest may not be delivered. Not all messages are always broken into two separate texts for phones/carries incompatible with EMS.

My old Samsung phone did not have EMS and I wanted it also. I got the Voyager (which I returned a week later) and was all excited to finally have EMS. But, I soon realized it can be more of a hassle than it’s worth with texts getting cut off, broken up, or not delivered. So while the 160 character limit can seem like ...
