I've researched it so much I am even more confused than when I started looking. I believe I get an employee discount through verizon and maybe sprint, %20 but not sure. Are there any differences you think I should know about? Plan difference? Problems?

Thanks

Yes supposedly Verizon charges you a BB data plan or you cannot activate the BB. I find that to be obsurd and for that alone I would go with Sprint (no fee) unless you choose to add it.

sprint, and verizon, and at&t (50% sure bout at&t) all have mandated BB data plans, just to have the device activated on the network. this has been passed down by BB themselves as part of the contracts with said carrier. sprint's BB data plan is $30 advertised, and includes unlimited txt msging, unlimited web browsing and data. as well as sprint music, and email. verizon is $29.99, and i don't have specifics for the what this includes in that speicif plan. as for at&t i've only heard they charge for bb data plans (ex gf had a bb from at&t).. i am a verizon customer and am close friends with a few of thier reps. and i work for sprint. i hope this clarifies any misunderstandings. the only true difference you will see in service between carri...

Uuummm ... you DO NOT i repeat DO NOT NEED the BB plan on Sprints network for this phone. You will not be eligible for any rebates without it but you CAN get the phone WITHOUT this plan 🤨
AND you work for Sprint ??!!

Some other reasons that make Sprint a better choice are:
1. Verizon allows ONLY its subscription based VZW Navigator to work with the built-in GPS.
2. Sprint has Sprint Navigator, Trimble Geocache, Telenav and other GPS programs, plus one that comes with the Sprint 8130.
3. Verizon only has their VZW TV.
4. Sprint has SprintTV, plus more that can be downlaoded, and a built in media player as well.
5. Verizon has limited number of pages with their BIS data plan for Blackberries.
6. Sprint has unlimited data, unlimited pages, unlimited web, unlimited emails, unlimited Sprint Navigator, unlimited Sprint TV.

I'm sure there are other differences, but not sure what they are.

"5. Verizon has limited number of pages with their BIS data plan for Blackberries."

What exactly do you mean by this? There's a soft 5 GB/month transfer limit, but I can't imagine anyone coming close to that unless they're tethering. The $29.99 email + web for blackberry plan is completely unlimited data transfer.

The VZW Pearl also has a built-in media player which I'm pretty sure is standard on every Blackberry I've seen regardless of carrier.

sure sprint does screw up a lot but the blackberry plans and support and data cards are there bread and butter. They do both very very well. Go with Sprint on this item and you will not be disappointed.
