Getting phone without a data plan
I was going to upgrade my phone to the blackberry pearl at VZW. The sales person told me that I will need to get a Blackberry data plan because the phone continuously connects to the internet to update stuff, even if you don't connect to it yourself. Can someone tell me if this is true?

Absolutely true. If you want to shut off data on a phone, get another PDA from Verizon, not a BlackBerry.
